Mount Tabor National Park
"... Lord, it is good for us to be here; if you wish, let us make here three tabernacles: one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah."
Matt. 17:4
Mount Tabor, rising in splendid isolation above the Jezreel Valley, is one of Israel's most impressive mountains. Fourth century church father Cyril was the first to identify Mount Tabor as the site of the Transfiguration of Jesus. From that day to this, the mountain has been a focus for pilgrimage. A large church graces the summit, and from the balcony of the Franciscan monastery visitors enjoy beautiful Galilee vistas. |
