אישה:   בוא תשמע סוד.

גבר:      נו!

אישה:   אתה יכול ללמוד על העיר בניאס, כמעט בלי לסייר בה בכלל!

גבר:      מה? איך?

אישה:   במקום לסייר בה, אפשר לבוא היישר למבנה הזה. יש בו שרידים כמעט מכל תקופות ההתיישבות בבניאס! ובכל מקום הם השתמשו במבנה הקיים עד כמה שניתן ובנו עליו.

גבר:      הא! כי בעת העתיקה הבנאים לא הזיזו אף אבן שלא לצורך, כדי לחסוך מאמץ.

אישה:   וכך גם לגבי האבנים שנמצאו באזור, אפילו אם הם החזיקו מבנים קיימים.

גבר:      אז המבנה הזה הוא ממש ציר זמן!

אישה:   בבסיסו, אפשר לראות קיר עבה מהתקופה הרומית-ביזנטית מהמאות החמישית-שישית לספירה. מעל הקיר הרומי, נראים ביצורים של העיר הצלבנית, שנבנו על שרידי הארמון של אגריפס השני. מעל הביצורים הצלבניים אפשר לראות בנייה מוסלמית קדומה, כנראה איובית או ממלוכית, ומעליה, התוספת המאוחרת ביותר – בית המוכתר של הכפר שהיה כאן בתקופה העות'מאנית.

גבר:      וקיבלנו את העיר בניאס בשתי דקות.

אישה:   היי, לאן נעלם אגריפס?

גבר:      כל כך התרגלתי אליו שלא שמתי לב שהוא נעלם.

אישה:   דרכו של עולם.

אגריפס:            פשוט לא רציתי להפריע לכם.

גבר:      או! בדיוק דיברנו על המלך.

אגריפס:            אגריפס השני.

אישה:   אל תתחיל!

אגריפס:            אני מבקש… נעמתם לי מאוד ידידיי! נתראה בביקורכם הבא!

גבר:      הכוונה: נעבור דרך השער המסתובב, נחצה את הכביש בזהירות ונחזור דרך הקופות אל רחבת החניה שממנה התחלנו את הסיור.

אישה:   שמחנו לארח אתכם היום בשמורת הטבע: נחל חרמון – בניאס. אנו מקווים לראותכם שוב בקרוב, באתרי רשות הטבע והגנים.

STATION 13 – Corner Tower

WOMAN: Come hear a secret.

MAN:  All right.

WOMAN: You can learn about Banias almost without touring it at all!

MAN: Really? How?

WOMAN: Instead of touring it, you can come straight to this tower. It has remains of almost all the periods of settlement at Banias! They used the existing structure wherever they could, and built on top of it.

MAN: Ha! Because in ancient times, builders didn’t move any stones they didn’t have to, to save effort.

WOMAN: And so they built on top of the stones they found in the area. Even if they held up existing buildings.

MAN: So this structure is a real time line!

WOMAN: At the base, you can see a thick wall from the Roman and Byzantine periods, from the fifth to the sixth centuries CE. Above the Roman wall, are the fortifications of the Crusader city, which was built on the remains of the palace of Agrippa the Second. Above the Crusader fortifications you can see Early Muslim-period construction, probably Ayyubid (Eye-YOU-bid) or Mamluk. Above that, the latest addition, the house of the village headman in the Ottoman period.

MAN: And there we have the city of Banias in two minutes.

WOMAN: Hey, where did Agrippa go?

MAN: I got so used to him that I didn’t notice he disappeared.

WOMAN: That’s the way of the world.

AGRIPPA: I simply didn’t want to disturb you.

MAN: Oh, we were just talking about his majesty.

AGRIPPA: King Agrippa the Second.

WOMAN: Don’t start!

AGRIPPA: Please…I’ve very much enjoyed your company my friends! See you next time!
