ברוכים תהיו ותבורך עירכם! אני טיכה, אלת העיר. כל עיר שפסיפסיה ופסליה מעוטרים בדמותי, תזכה בעושר, בשפע ובביטחון. לא סתם אני אוחזת קרן שפע ובה שלל פירות. בראש הקרן ניצב עץ תמר. בכתר שעל ראשי מתנוססים חומת העיר סקיתופוליס וביצוריה. אנשי סקיתופוליס היקרים בחרו לעטר בדמותי את הכיכר המרכזית הזאת. הכיכר, בצורת חצי גורן, קרויה בפי כול סיגמה, אולי משום שהיא מזכירה את האות היוונית סיגמה. כל המגיע לסיגמה סוקר את הסחורות שבחנויות ונהנה לקנות ולבלות. לאות הוקרה אני משרה ברכה על העסקאות והעסקים בעיר כולה.

הבנתם נכון, אני האלה החשובה ביותר כאן, ואם אתם שואלים מי האל החשוב ביותר, התשובה היא… דיוניסוס, אל היין.

מהסיגמה נחזור לרחוב פלאדיוס ונמשיך שמאלה עד למפגש עם רחוב סילוואנוס. לפני הפנייה לרחוב תראו מדרגות בצד ימין. המדרגות הובילו למקדש המרכזי של העיר הרומית.

Station 5 – The Sigma

May you and your city be blessed! I am Tyche, goddess of the city. Every city adorned with my image in mosaics and statues will enjoy wealth, abundance and security. Not for nothing do I hold a cornucopia full of fruit. At the top of the cornucopia is a date palm. The crown on my head shows the walls and fortifications of the city of Scythopolis. The dear people of Scythopolis chose my image to decorate this central plaza. Everyone calls this semicircular plaza “Sigma,” perhaps because its shape recalls the Greek letter sigma. Everyone who comes to the Sigma enjoys shopping and a good time. In appreciation, I bless all the transactions and businesses in the entire city.

That’s right – I’m the most important goddess in the city. And if you ask who the most important god is – that answer is…Dionysus, the god of wine.

From the Sigma, return to Paladius Street and continue left as far as the intersection with Sylvanus Street. Before turning onto Sylvanus Street, take a look at the steps on the right. They once led to the main temple of the Roman city.
